Basso Family

Summer 2011

HOME ..........A Tribute to all the Moms

Mother's Day 2011 at Gambardella's Restaurant in Menlo Park, California

From left to right Rowen Barnes, Cristy Barnes, Ryann Barnes, Robyn Basso,

Trenton Basso, Sue Basso, and Tony Basso.

A special tribute is in order for all the moms in the family for all the hard work and unselfish support they provide. The family would not survive without them. Overall this has been an eventful year. Nonni, the grand matriarch of the Basso Family quietly passed away. The family took a vacation in Kauai not without some fanfare. Cristy and John Barnes celebrated Cristy's fortieth birthday in Italy. Tony Basso started his second year as a camp dierector, renaming his camp "CHAMPION CAMP". The grandkids---well they are all wonderful. You will see pictures of them doing everything from Karate, Baseball, Dance and even blowing bubbles. Sofia is the youngest member of the family. She is the daughter of Sarah and Melo Vergara(my brother Ray's daughter). She was born just shortly before Nonni died. We want to pay a special tribute to Robyn, our daughter in law whose adventurous and entreprenuerial spirit we all admire. Finally last year Sue and her sister Mary Artero took a journey in the Southwest through Monument Park in Utah and finally ended up in Sedona. Arizona. They are still friends.

The mom missing from the photo above is Stephanie Basso (left photo). Before she had children, Stephanie spent time as a counselor working with disadvantaged youth in San Francisco.  She then spent many years working for biotechs in the field Genetics and in the Genetics Department at Stanford Medical School, where she was the project manager of four grants with field centers at Stanford, Taiwan & Hawaii.   Now Stephanie is a dedicated single mother, working full-time at Stanford Law School.  Last year she was promoted to Manager of Judicial Clerkships, where she is in charge of placing law school grads in internships with District, Circuit and Supreme Court Judges/Justices at the Federal and State levels. But the role Stephanie enjoys most is being mom to Connor and Catie.
